This is the prescription for divine health podcast, where we help you with faith based wisdom and instruction from a spirit filled perspective on health and healing. This is our space to connect with people like you to encourage and inspire you to live the life God meant for you to live healthy and whole spirit, soul and body. Here are your hosts Minister and health strategist Dr Andrea Hart and Dr Lauren Carol, physician of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Hey,

Dr. Andrea:   1:09
everyone, we are back. We are here for our very first episode, and on this episode, we are going to be talking about divine health, supernatural health. That is that we'll be talking from all different aspects of it. And again, my name is Dr Andrea. Um, if you have not listened to our intro episode. Our trailer. I want to show you Go back and listen to that. But my name is, um As I said, Andrea, I'm off the speaker, minister and a divine health and healing advocate. And I'm here with my sister, Dr Lawrence. Say, Hey, Lauren. So Dr Physician of pediatrics and Internal Medicine. So, like I said today, we're gonna be talking about divine in supernatural health. And when we're talking about this, I always need to start out because people don't necessarily have a grasp on that. We're a three part being. We're trying being spirit, soul and body. And we take that from first act alone. Ian's Chapter five, verse three and it talks about. And I won't read the scripture for you. But you can go look it up yourself. But we are a spirit. We live in a body and we possess a soul. Our spirit is the part of us that connects to God. It's surreal us. Our body is this flesh and bone physical body in our soul is our minor intellect. Our will and our emotions and what we know to be true is that feelings are there the voice of our body reason is, the voice of our soul and conscience is the voice of our spirit. And what we're going to talk about today is how health and healing or our physical health is connected to our supernatural health. So in that, like I said, um, that's the threefold nature of man. The life of God is living in our spirits, and that's been in our spirit, is attempting to influence our soul and our body. So we have a numerous number of scriptures talking about how Jesus died for us, and he healed a spirit, soul and body so that life of God is in our spirit. But at times we get attacked in our body. You know, sometimes it's an attack from the enemy, and other times it's just us not operating and wisdom. Um, when and other times it's us just living in this earth, you know, a corruptible or of earth that is, you know, failing and earth that is full of sin. So it could be any one of these things. I talked a lot about it in my actual book Guy's toe heels. If you want some information on that is in the show notes. But Lauren, you know, feeling that there's something about you had a really good definition of, um divine, which I thought was kind of cool.

Dr. Lauren:   3:54
Yeah, so just me googling the word divine cause, you know, sometimes we throw out all of these terms just talking about God and talking about the things of God. But do we really look at the definitions of what we're saying? So the word divine really means off from or light God. So when we talk about divine health, we're talking about health of that's from, or like God. And then there's another couple of adjectives that describe that were divine, and that's excellent and delightful. So if we're talking about divine health, supernatural help, we're talking about health. That's excellent. And that's delightful. Now, no, I see patients a lot. Ah, lot of people really can't say that. Their health is excellent, were delightful, you know, But that's the way to God wants us to, because that's of him. We know Andrew just taught, or Dr Andrea just talked about, you know, we're spirit, soul and body. That's how God has created us. You know, it has a believer. God wants us to be like him. That means he wants us to have that excellent, that delightful health. And really, how do we get that excellent and delightful health? Well, you know, I think as a physician, you know, I treat everyone you know Christians. Boot is whatever. No, nonbelievers all delight. And I find that you know, when I talked to my Christian patients, either they let me know that their Christian or somehow in the conversation it comes up. I feel like sometimes people will compartmentalized our faith, meaning they'll silo their faith away from the different areas of their life, you know? Ah, they might go to church on Sunday and my even reach scriptures, maybe one or two during a week. But, you know, the the divine things of God seem like they're separate from their everyday life. Like they don't allow God into their health. They won't allow God into our finances. They won't allow God into some of their relationships. But God is telling us I need to be a part of everything. And if you want this divine health, you've gotta invite him in.

Dr. Andrea:   5:55
And that's so interesting, because being, you know, both of us We grew up in the same household, so grew up in church and, um, Christiandom. And so that was never a thing to compartmentalize cause, literally, all things, church and all things. Guy was all the time and we went to Christian schools and just everything. So is it's kind of difficult for me to even I kind of think through that. But it is not difficult because I see people do it every day, and where we sea people do it every day is just not even in health. But it's in your lifestyle. When you're in church, you know their holier than thou. When they add a church, you know, it's everything you would have. Yeah, so, um uh, and there's a quote that I do like, um and it's I don't know who said it, but it's how you do anything is how you do everything. So if you're not devoted, you're only devoted to God. Partially, there's some other areas in your life where you're literally, um, Onley devoted to it, partially wherever it s So it's about your devotion and being fully devote devoted to that. And I talked about experience, and when we talked about this question. What stops people from combining faith and health? Well, my first thing that came to me was experience, You know, what's your experience and seeing people, um, used their faith was your experience in seeing in faith, you know, is your experiences that we act like Christians on Sunday and then Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, you know, is whatever. Um, I know. And that makes whatever winner, right? Yeah, is literally whatever. So it makes it difficult, you know, for you too. Like you. Like Dr Lauren was saying difficult for you to not compartmentalize other things, you know? And I know sometimes when you compartmentalize things, it makes it easier for you to deal with things. I know that's a coping mechanism at times, but it often hurts you when we're talking about walking in divine and, um, supernatural health. So, um, and it's interesting. When we talked about this, we talked about seeing what your experience will talk to people about God with their help being in the place of a physician. Do you ever do that? When you're you know, when you were seeing patients Or how does it coming up?

Dr. Lauren:   8:21
Yeah, absolutely. So as a physician, of course, I do not impose my beliefs on anyone. But, you know, as I'm building, report my patient. You know, I'm always asking, What's your support system? Where do you draw strength from? Especially if they're facing chronic conditions or even acute conditions that may leave a sense of fear or just a sense of doubt. You know, always that the conversation always turns toward faith. If it's something as important in their lives Now, I've had people come out and tell me, like one Christian. You know, if you said that you open the door for me and I'm like, Okay, I'm a person of faith as well. Everybody. I've gone into the same. Exactly. But I will say this, You know, that leaves the door open for me to ask you if you want me to pray for you. And I've prayed for several patients, you know, during their exam, you know, and I think that just goes forth. Like if you are a Christian, if you believe in prayer, you believe the power prayer. I'm exercise that because I know as a physician, we don't have all the answers. Medical science, You know, we've we've made great gains, um, in combating some disease processes, but were we still got a long way to go? You know that, um, your faith is very, very important, and I think is part of that totality of man. And you do yourself a disservice from ignoring that side of you. Especially that's that divine side that God has placed on inside of you.

Dr. Andrea:   9:50
Yeah, while you were talking, what I thought of is just that God complex that, um you see, patients in just people in general put on certain people in a medical setting that put it on the doctor in a church, setting up at times, they'll put it on the minister, the pastor, you know, there look at that person like they know all, um, all things that is refreshing. Someone that is a position being able to say. I don't know it. You know everything about what you're going through. But I do know some know somebody, and I hear from somebody that does, you know, and I'm getting my instruction from him, and then, you know, you even have it. I think it's better to have. Ah, person of faith, Christian faith, preferably being your physician because you can, you know, be in faith. And they could be in favour with you, with you alongside the medical, you know, believing in the medical side of because I really think medicine is God's mercy and grace for people. You know, some people would not be here if we didn't have medicine and things like that, you know? But you can use your medicine and you can use your faith. You can use scriptures and different things, and we don't have time for it right here on this particular broadcast. But even in my own life, things that I've gone through, my husband has gone through. We worked in tandem in partnership with the doctor, the doctor and with God, and thank God for some of the major things that we've had. We've always had Christian physician surgeons and things like that. So they were able thio partner with us and not be against us. Half the time. We just ask the doctor being neutral, you can't believe just be a neutral,

Dr. Lauren:   11:29
you know. And this is what we're doing. You know, that kind of hard for some physicians. You know, e, I don't Sometimes in the church, I think people vilify doctors. Are you gonna tell that after I'm like, you know what the doctors is doing? Their job, you know? I mean, we've given, um with a long background of our education and reports. You know, it's not that we get pleasure and giving people bad news. It's not that we get pleasure and, you know, stripping away people's hope. You know, it's just that we're taught to relay fax, but we know that question is a believer. You're standing on truth. So I want you to You gotta cut the doctor some slack, you know, And you know there. And I'm not saying every doctor is not the same. You've gotta find one that's actually gonna listen to you. That's going to show empathy, because there's a lot of doctors out there who will NASA trait. But that's why no exit and then sometimes you have to seek that person out. But, you know, that's why I think you should be be prayerful in anything that you do, especially when choosing a primary care provider. And I think of Proverbs 35 it says trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not depend on your own understanding. And then for six, because will and all you do, he will show you the path to take. So you're acknowledging God in every thing that's even picking a primary care physician, That means the hospital system you go to that's anything in life. So something as important as your health, you know, and as the doctors in front of you, you're relaying intimate parts of your life you want. You want to know that that person listens to you. You want to know that God has put that person there. So I encourage you even before you make that, um, decision on where you go. Pray about that. You know, ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit. If you're in a, um, hassle or your insurance where you have toe pick particular providers, you can't go anywhere that you want. You know, pray about that list of providers or physicians. Nurse practitioners, What have you you know, when asked God or ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit and picking out that person? Yeah,

Dr. Andrea:   13:41
that's that's really good advice and really good wisdom. Not other part is you gotta be able to hear the whole spirit

Dr. Andrea:   13:47
before we're going into that. No true resource

Dr. Andrea:   13:52
is in the show notes that will help you with that That I have. I'm hearing the voice of God clearly, but we do know that God wants, um where his Children. He wants us to be able to hear him clearly and not follow the voice of a stranger. But that's really, really good wisdom. And it is a good intro into us talking about our next segment. But before we do that, um, just some words about our gasto heels Facebook group. So join the collect active on Facebook as our free private Facebook group is called Gosta Heels Collective. And it'll be in the show notes. But in this group, we actually go deeper in helping you build your faith for divine health and divine healing. So now we are moving into our Smith segment. We were talking about the doctor and the purpose that it plays. Dr. Lauren just finished discussing in and around how we need to pray about where we go, who we see. Um, just different aspects of that. But the question comes up. Are people afraid of the doctor? And I'm just gonna give that hand out right on over to you, Dr Lauren.

Dr. Andrea:   14:59
Uh, you know, I think it's own aspect. Some people are. They are afraid, but I think it's more so of that feeling of not being in control, and that's a scary feeling. So if a doctor diagnosis you with something or you know something's going on, you just don't want to put a name to it. You kind of want, ignore. It's not, um, hurting your life too much is not a huge detriment to your life, but you know that is there. I think the unknown is what people are afraid of at times or did just had bad experiences with doctors in the past it and listen to me. They're very condescending. I don't

Dr. Andrea:   15:42
about when we're talking about a certain groups, and I don't mean to cut you off certain groups. This is or historically, um, there's been issues with doctors, and what I think about, I think about African Americans with Tuskegee airman experiments and things like that. So is rooted and grounded just in the generational line. that doctors are not people that are for you. You know that they're going to do something to you that they shouldn't do. And I think especially in certain cultures, especially in, um, African American culture, that is something that has traveled. And then we have issues and certain cultures with women going to the doctor's and mail not, you know, there's all these health disparities that are going on that, you know, And if that's the truth, you know, we are people of God. We can take authority over that cultural norm and change it into the norm of God. So we're not walking in fear, but go ahead. No, I

Dr. Lauren:   16:36
think a lot of time. I think people think Well, you're just a money hungry doctor. You're just giving the audience medications. I'm I Look, I went to primary care, grants it whatever, doctor, You not their kind of doctor you are. You're making a good salary, whatever kind of doctor that you are. But if I really want to make a whole bunch of money, I would not be one of my primary care. Right? Right. Right. Dermatologist, I got some good dermatologist runs and it's not about money. But I will say this. Uh, like I said, you got to find someone that you're comfortable with. Oh, someone that listens to you, someone that you have peace with. You and I was so like my colleagues during one going into medicine. This is a customer service of business, Really? You know, your doctor is there to serve new, not the other way around. You know, there's some people in my profession who are not like that. But, you know, for me, as a Christian doctor, you know, I don't I'm not just answering to my patients, which are very, very important to me. I'm answering the God. So to me, this is part of ministry. And I think there's a lot of doctors, Christian, um, non Christian alike. You know, we went into this profession toe to truly help teach people to truly make a difference. So I think it's like with any professions. You've got your good. You've got your bad. You've just got to Sometimes you got to shop around, you know, ask your friends, your neighbors. Do you have a doctor that you like that listens to you that you feel comfortable with I think that'd be the first thing. And then secondarily, you've got to make the time that I'm gonna put myself out there because, you know, I always had to excuse like I didn't have time I needed. I really needed to make my appointments for my primary care and my o b g y n. This is me as a doctor. I think if you talk to doctors, we are really the worst patients sometimes. But, you know, you've got to make the time Thio, you know, make your appointments. If you're a woman and go see your obese you and make sure you get your pap. If you're eligible for that, you're at the the age where you're supposed to do that and also have your at least yearly physical exam. Those things are very important. You know, it's your health. Is your willingness is for your life. You want to make sure you're making those appointments and my thing to make it simpler. Just schedule all your appointments the same week schedule all your point, Mr Same Month and you're done made January well in this month. Now we're in February. Make February well in this month you know, schedules things together every year so that, you know, this is a month and I'm doing this. I'm not gonna miss it.

Dr. Andrea:   19:12
That's really smart. I hadn't thought about that, because most times I'm at the end of the year tryingto get make sure I've met my you know, the doubles already met, so I'm going at the end of the year. Trying to get into the doctors before the end of the year.

Dr. Lauren:   19:38
But it happens sometimes. My thing is, just just set the time and just do it and get it done. You know, the first, the first step is just making the appointment. Just make the appointment

Dr. Andrea:   19:50
right. And I think a lot of times people, not even just Christians. But people are afraid because it baseline your you should get your basic preventative screenings and things like that. So, you know, baseline is your your blood work, and we're gonna talk about knowing your numbers at some point during this, uh, during this podcast. But knowing your numbers, getting your based on getting your blood work, getting your physical of the pap smear and things and at least at minimum, doing that because just in the blood work, there's so many things that the doctor can see so that you don't end up in the emergency room or you don't end up that forbid with a major chronic disease at Stage number four, where they could have done a simple blood test and saw you know, that there was things that were out of order, what went right and kind of could have treated you previous to that. And the reason why you didn't do that was out of fear and sometimes is using excuses like I don't have insurance. I don't have the money to pay. And then I will come back to you with, you know, where is your faith, you know? Asked the Lord to help you get you to money or to open up a door. There's so many free me things that you conduce if you are a person that doesn't have insurance or that is underinsured because you know that is a really, really thing. So but the big thing is Second Timothy one in chapter seven. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, Love in a sound line. We need to stop partnering with fear in every area of our lives. But especially in this area, at minimum, when you go to the doctor and they might give you a diagnosis that he might give you and we serve the guy that has a name above every name. So you could take that, then take them symptoms that they told you. And you can stand on the word of God, Plead the blood of Jesus and do what you know to do is faith and partner with God also with partnering with your doctor and not being in fear cause fear is open door for so

Dr. Lauren:   21:50
many things. Yes, yes. So I want to give a quick plug for those who don't have insurance or are under a sure there's, ah beautiful thing in your community called a federally qualified health care center. How do I know? I'm actually I'm the chief medical officer of one in the city of Detroit. So these places on receive federal grants. You know, as well as funding from, like, payers with regular insurance as well. But these people will help you. If you don't have enough insurance, they'll help you with their social workers to find a plan That's right for you. So you can get those basic primary care needs. And then also, they'll also set you up for programs or what have you if you can't qualify for any insurance at all, So they're a great asset in the community. Ah, a lot of people don't know about them. You could go to her PSA H r s a. That or GE um, that's actually the government website and look up federally qualified health care. So

Dr. Andrea:   22:48
and we'll also put some things in the show notes so you can just click in case you're driving or in case you're doing something that you're not by computer. So you can just click on that show notes, um will be available on our website, and also you pry could see some things where you subscribe to this podcast, and that's another plug. Don't forget to subscribe to the black and has been for more information in these areas more helpful tips and tricks and help when it comes to your health and your healing. So let's go ahead and wrap up since we are at the end of our time, um, and give you all some concluding thoughts. Firstly, you have to use your faith and and in big letters, go to the doctor. Uh, you can't just do one without the other. You know, you have to do so. Yep. And just know, you know your doctor is not God. God has got We need to follow him. Okay? So just know that medicine is not foolproof. You know, you won't get a magic pill to solve every problem in your life. Although some people may wish that that's how it would be. But really, that's not reality. So you still need to believe God, you still need to have faith and really, for some conditions which are reversible, have faith to get off of that medication. You know, it is doable. It can't happen. God Still Heals. There's not a separation between medicine between going to a doctor and medicine and your faith, Your faith is actually, um is priority in all of this. But you need to couple that with, um, sound practical advice from your doctor.

Dr. Andrea:   24:38
Yes, and just a couple of tips around supernatural health. The word of God is God's medicine. You know the Bible and I read the scripture. Let me pull it up here. The Bible talks about, um, in Proverbs chapter for in verse 23 22. It says my son attend to my words, incline your ear into my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart for their life into those that find them and health to all their flesh. That word health in the Greek. We know that the the Bible was translated The new and Old Testament than the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew New Testament Translate from the Greek. But that word actually literally means of medicine. It also means a cure remedy and even deliverance. So the word of God is God's medicine. So while you're going to the doctor, we're talking about tips to living a supernatural and supernatural health use the word of God. Speak the word of God over your body. The Bible talks about how deaf in life are in the power of the tongue. So you need to speak. The water got over your body. Speak the word of God over your situation. You know what's going to happen in the doctor's office? Um, pray and ask the Lord to help you not be fearful, you know? So that's another two for living a spit soup in it. But the biggest tip is obviously the word of God and staying in the presence of God. But those were just too masterful. Think that you could do that will change your whole entire life. And the other side of that is doing the natural side. Getting your screenings going to your appointment's not being afraid, Um, and getting some accountability, if needed, and getting second opinions if needed, right,

Dr. Lauren:   26:24
You know it. And that's my thing. If you have a, um, good primary care physician, it really shouldn't get offended. I mean, my Hector pride a little bit, but my patient tells me they want to get a second opinion. Go. Have at it, please. Do you know because it's your health. You have to be your own best advocate. If you feel like you'd like another set of eyes looking at your case, go ahead and do it. I mean, it's your body. It's your health. It might calm things.  And like she said, you are your own best advocate. And for some of you guys, if you're facing these Ah, these major diagnoses, you need to get a second opinion, you know, or at least have the same test ran more than one time.

Dr. Lauren:   27:15
Right? Right.  I even like a different hospital system because there might be different modes of treatment that might be more particular to that hospital system than another

Dr. Andrea:   27:27
right. And I am. And why you're saying that? I'm thinking of, um, I had an MRI. I think that that's what it was. I had an m r. I and I went to get it read by a neuroscientist. She said, Well, I don't like the way this hospital system reads these.  Go to get another one done.

Dr. Lauren:   27:51
That's real, though, but But that's realistic with the expertise. And sometimes that's what you'll see in some hospitals. In hospitals connected with universities, you tend to have more academics looking at your cases. Many of those attendings or physicians there might be doing research themselves opposed to. Maybe a community has what I'm not saying all community hospitals. But a lot of times, if you're connected with the academic institution, you might have a more collegiate look at your case.

Dr. Andrea:   28:23
That's good wisdom, Yes, so there's all these things, and then the other side of that is to always be led by the Holy Spirit. On this is a spirit -filled broadcast, so definitely be led by the spirit. If you have a check or something, this doesn't feel right or you don't have peace about something. Look into it. Ask the Lord, you know, do the extra homework go to another. A physician hospital system are any of these things.  So we want to thank you guys for joining us for our very first episode. I think it went really, really well on our way. We are official.
